Some old rivals and first-time opponents highlight the 2011 Ferriday High football schedule.

"We've got a competitive schedule and one that should have us ready for district play," said Ferriday head coach Chad Harkins.

The Trojans also pick up two new District 2-2A opponents.

Ferriday kicks off its season on Sept. 2 against Class 6A Natchez High in Ferriday.

The Trojans lost to the Bulldogs 12-6 in 2009 in Ferriday in the first meeting between the two schools before falling to Natchez 14-0 this past season in Natchez.

The Trojans visit Block in Jonesville on Sept. 9 looking to avenge a 20-12 loss to the Bears.

Ferriday travels to Vidalia on Sept. 16. The Trojans beat the Vikings 41-6 this past season in Ferriday.

Ferriday renews its rivalry with Wilkinson County the following week in Woodville. The two teams played several years ago before stopping the series.

Ferriday hosts Jennings on Sept. 30.

Jennings finished 8-3 last year, falling to Neville 49-43 in a first-round Class 4A contest.

Harkins is a good friend of Jennings head coach Rusty Phelps, who previously coached at Winnfield. Harkins is a graduate of Winnfield.

The Trojans begin District 2-2A play on October 7 at home against Jonesboro-Hodge.

Ferriday visits Sterlington in Monroe the following week before hosting Lake Providence.

Ferriday plays at Homer on Oct. 28. Homer is a newcomer in District 2-2A.

The Trojans end their regular season at home against Lakeside, another district newcomer.

"This schedule should really help us out as far as power ratings are concerned," Harkins said.
