Fruit of the Loom announced today that a third shift will be added to their distribution facility at the Industrial Park in Vidalia and that 28 new jobs will be created.

According to Jody Doucet, Vice President for Distribution, Fruit of the Loom extended the work week from five days to seven days to better accommodate the needs of their customers.

"Many of our customers have changed to an 'On-Time' process, which allows them to maintain a short-term inventory," said Doucet. "In order to keep up with their schedule we are required to distribute our products more often"

The announcement was made through a press release by the Concordia Economic & Industrial Development District.

The largest private employer in the Miss Lou, Vidalia Apparel currently operates two, 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday employing 300 people. With the new arrangement, the facility will operate two, 10-hour shifts Tuesday through Friday and one, 12-hour shift Saturday through Monday.
