Authorities to crack down on illegal 'bath salt' chemicals

Concordia and Catahoula law enforcement officials are cracking down on dangerous chemicals, often found at convenience stores and gas stations, currently being marketed as "bath salts" or "plant food."

Concordia Parish Sheriff Randy Maxwell, Vidalia Police Chief Arthur Lewis, Ferriday Police Chief Kenneth Hedrick and members of their staffs met Tuesday morning to discuss asking area merchants to voluntarily take the dangerous items off of their shelves immediately. Catahoula Sheriff James Glen Kelly was unable to attend the meeting, but also pledged to battle the latest in dangerous drugs being marketed to the public.
