Story Archives: Video bingo firm gets temporary permit

Video bingo firm gets temporary permit
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Although they have not received town approval to operate in Ferriday, Big Bucks Video Bingo LLC of Denham Springs received a 40-day temporary machine permit from the Concordia Parish Department of Revenue and Taxation on January 5.

Ferriday alderman Elijah "Stepper" Banks offered a motion recently to hire Bucks Video, but his resolution died for a lack of a second.

Even though Bucks Video has a temporary machine permit, it can not legally operate in Ferriday without approval by the council.

"We are holding the funds and have not processed it because it has to be approved by the Town of Ferriday Board of Alderman," said Randy Temple of the revenue and taxation office.

Big Bucks Video Bingo LLC paid $1,250, or $50 per machine.

Temple emphasized Big Bucks Video Bingo was not granted an occupational license and that the temporary machine permit will not be processed until they are approved.

"I don't know why they would purchase a permit when the board has not approved them," said Ferriday Mayor Glen McGlothin.
