The Concordia Parish Chamber of Commerce "honored the past while celebrating the future," by naming Vidalia Mayor Hyram Copeland as its first Concordia Parish Person of the Year.

"This is a tremendous honor," said Copeland, who has been Mayor of Vidalia since 1992 and previously served on the town council. "This is an honor I cherish more than any other. I'm just elated and humbled by it."

Others honored were Joey Bazile, Home Hardware Center, Mignonne Ater, the Bryant O. Hammett Conference and Convention Center, Patricia Anderson, Lena Bateman and Jamie Burley.
