Qualifying next week for Vidalia police chief

Qualifying for the April 2 special election for chief of police in Vidalia begins next week.

Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber said qualifying is slated for Feb. 9-11.

The special election is being held to fill the unexpired term of former chief Tapper Hendricks.

Meanwhile, qualifying for state and parish offices is slated for Sept. 6-8. The primary election is set for Oct. 22 and the general election for Nov. 19, Webber said.
