Jindal praises sheriff's association in Vidalia Gov. Bobby Jindal made his sixth appearance in Concordia Parish Monday when he gave the welcoming address at the Louisiana Sheriff's Association midwinter conference at the Bryant O. Hammett Conference and Convention Center.
Jindal was elected governor in 2008.
"Thank you for the hard work you do every day to keep people safe," said Jindal, who arrived in a Louisiana State Police helicopter after an appearance in Monroe earlier in the day. "The state has been working to bring together local, state and federal officers so we can all work harder to have safer communities."
Concordia Parish Sheriff Randy Maxwell said the convention was "very successful."
"We had a good turnout and everyone was extremely impressed with the conference center and hospitality," Maxwell said. "They all had nothing but great things to say about Concordia Parish. These kind of conventions are usually held in places like Shreveport, Baton Rouge and New Orleans, but everyone said they want to come back here."
