Parish drainage study in works
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Officials with federal and state agencies have pledged to fund a preliminary drainage study for the parish, according to Concordia Parish Police Jury President Melvin Ferrington.

Officials with FEMA as well as Casey Levy with the Louisiana Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness met with Ferrington and two members of the parish drainage committee at the Police Jury office in Vidalia on Thursday.

"This preliminary study will not cost the parish anything," said Ferrington.

He said the work will include a look at Cocodrie Bayou and streams and bayous that flow into the Tensas River on the northern end of the parish.

"This is good news," said Ferrington. "The state and FEMA officials are going to work with the parish engineer for the preliminary study."
