Story Archives: LWFD may build boat ramp for parish

LWFD may build boat ramp for parish
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Concordia Parish Police Jury may soon be operating a boat ramp at the old Louisiana Wildlife & Fisheries Department (LWFD) regional office property on Lake Concordia.

Mark McElroy of LWFD said the department is willing to build and fund a state-of-the-art boat ramp at a cost of up to $250,000 and then turn it over to the parish.

He said plans are in the works to sell the buildings and remaining property.

McElroy said LWFD would sponsor the project, get the work done and then turned the finished project over the parish.

"We're not going to maintain it," said McElroy.

He said the state and parish would enter into a 20 to 30-year agreement in which the parish would operate the ramp but the state would maintain ownership.

McElroy said up to seven acres would be available along with the boat ramp.
