School Board raises member pay The Concordia Parish School Board voted Thursday night to increase board member pay by $275 per month.
The measure to increase the monthly stipend from $350 to $625 passed on a 5-3 vote.
Board vice-president Raymond Riley, who has brought the issue up in the past, again offered the pay raise motion. Martha Rabb seconded the motion.
Riley said elected officials throughout the state received raises last year and that the School Board has provided raises and bonuses to employees during the past years. He said he did "not believe anyone in the system would oppose" the board providing itself a raise.
The measure passed on a 5-3 vote with Riley, Rabb, Mary Campbell, Charles Minor and Daryl Price in support, while Darlene Baker, Cheryl Probst and Board president Gary Parnham voted against.
Fred Butcher didn't vote.
