Riverland Medical Center Board of Directors received a mixed review -- both bad news and good news -- from auditor Bobby Miller on Tuesday.

Although Miller reported that the hospital showed a loss of $180,000 last year, he praised the board's efforts to turn things around.

Miller announced his findings during the board's regular meeting Tuesday night.

The board cut 16 full-time positions and eliminated most part-time and temporary positions last month. The hospital has also undergone a major cleaning project, including the emergency room, which has been relocated temporarily for renovation.

The hospital also just received accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR) for its mammography unit. The Selenia Digital Mammography unit was provided by Hologic company last November.
