Proposals sought to manage water plant Two companies are working on proposals to manage the Ferriday water plant.
Glen Womack and Mike McGuffie of JCP Management in Harrisonburg visited the plant on Thursday. JCP will submit a proposal to serve as a third party to manage the facility.
Cecil D. Gassiott Contractor of Harrisonburg is also expected to submit a proposal.
The Town of Ferriday is seeking proposals through the end of the month.
A committee will then vote on which company will serve as the third party management company.
"This is part of the agreement we have with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in order to receive our grant ($6.5 million) for the new water plant," McGlothin said. "It's a step by step process. We've done everything they've asked us to do."
McGlothin said he is appreciative to Sen. Mary Landrieu, Rep. Rodney Alexander. Clarence Hawkins and Richard Hoffpauir with USDA and Bryant Hammett for their efforts in securing the grant.
"This is an 75 percent grant (25 percent matching funds), which is unheard of," McGlothin said. "And it's only 2.3 interest rate."
