Board tables action on pay raise The Concordia Parish School Board will consider a pay raise for board members at a later date.
The board agreed to remove the matter from the March agenda at Thursday's meeting due to the absence of Martha Rabb, who is recovering from heart surgery.
At the February meeting, a majority of the board on a 5-3 vote favored raising pay by $275 per month -- from $350 to $625. But the board later realized a two-thirds vote was needed for passage.
Board member Fred Butcher did not vote, while supporting the pay raise were Rabb, Raymond Riley, Mary Campbell, Charles Minor and Daryl Price. Voting against the raise were Gary Parnham, Darlene Baker and Cheryl Probst.
Board members can make as much as $800 a month, but are considering the statewide average of $625 per month.
