Early voting underway for police chief Early votes total 77 through Tuesday for the upcoming election for Vidalia chief of police.
Three candidates are seeking the post, including Arthur Lewis, who was named police chief following the resignation of former chief Tapper Hendricks, along with Sam King and Stuart J. Boykin.
The special election is being held to fill the unexpired term of Hendricks.
The Registrar of Voters Office reported Wednesday morning that 62 individuals had casts early votes in person, while 15 mail ballots were received.
Early voting continues through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., including the noon hour.
Registrar of Voters Golda Ensminger said 3,354 voters are eligible to cast ballots in the police chief's election on April 2.
