Ground breaking Monday for Ferriday technical school Gov. Bobby Jindal and other officials were in Ferriday Monday for a groundbreaking ceremony for a $5.2 million project to renovate and add teaching space to the Shelby M. Jackson Campus.
Jindal was joined by Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) President Dr. Joe D. May, Central Louisiana Technical College, Shelby M. Jackson Campus Dean Mignone Ater and local officials.
Rep. Andy Anders of Clayton and Sens. Neal Riser and Francis Thompson were unable to attend due to legislative business in Baton Rouge..
Before ceremonial ground-breaking, a large crowd gathered under and outside a marquee set up in front of the technical school for a brief program. There, Jindal predicted LSU would win the national title in football in 2011 and the Saints would return to win the Super Bowl in 2012.
"Since taking office more than three years ago, we have worked to speed up community and technical college project funding to keep up with the growing demand from businesses and break ground on more campuses, like this one, to train more skilled Louisiana workers," said Jindal.
