USDA head discusses town's water plant
by Michael DeVault - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The state head of USDA discussed Ferriday's water system Tuesday, while the Board of Alderman learned that JCP of Harrisonburg was the lone company to send a Request For Proposal (RFP) to be the third party operator of the water plant.

Engineer Bryant Hammett told the board work was about two weeks behind in putting the third party in place.

"We had one response and we advertised," Hammett said. "We had four companies pick up the RFPs (JCP, Cecil D. Gassiott LLC, Alexandria, Triton AMI, Hammond and Rig Masters Inc., of Monterey) and a number of calls. We will have a meeting Wednesday (today) and come back the following week and the negotiations will begin. We can actually catch back up. The completion date for this project is July of 2012."

Mayor Glen McGlothin said the selection committee will make a recommendation to the board. The committee includes Mike Rabb of Delta Bank, businessman Joey Bazile, Mayor Pro Tempore Johnnie Brown and Vidalia Water Supervisor Mark Morace.
