Monterey tracksters compete at State Monterey's girls finished 21st in the Class B State track meet at LSU's Bernie Moore Track Facility in Baton Rouge Thursday, while the Monterey boys placed 26th.
Epps High won the girls championship, while Weston captured the boys title.
"I was very pleased," said Monterey track coach Ashley Avery. "The competition was tough. I had a lot of personal best times and was pleased with that."
Kristin Russell placed fifth in the 800-run at 2:39.33
Taylor Morace placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 1,174 meters.
Ellen Bairnsfather finished seventh in the 100-dash at 13.60.
Logan Dale placed eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 28 feet, 11.5 inches, ninth in the 300-hurdles at 57.71 and ninth in the long jump with a leap of 12 feet, 11.25 inches.
Jodi Duncan placed ninth in the 100-hurdles at 19.93.
Monterey's 400-meter relay team of Bairnsfather, Dale, Baler Smith and Russell placed fifth at 4:36.75
Elliot Britt placed sixth in the 3200-run at 11:08.13.
Brett Wright finished seventh in the 110-hurdles at 18.47 and ninth in the 300-hurdles at 46.59.
Cole McMillin finished sixth in the discus with a toss of 106 feet, 6 inches.
In Class A action, Bradley Sylve of South Plaquemines, the son of former Vidalia High football standout Eddie Ray Jackson, won the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.49.
Sylve, who signed a football scholarship with the University of Alabama, also won the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.50. |
