Board to study magnet school at Ridgecrest

The Concordia Parish School Board extended Supt. Loretta Blankenstein's contract by four years, hired a new principal for Ferriday Lower and took care of routine matters during its regularly meeting Thursday night.

Blankenstein and the board also announced plans to begin a study into whether to open a magnet school at Ridgecrest.

Additionally, the board named Bobbie Hinson as the principal at Ferriday Lower Elementary, effective July 1, 2011.

Blankenstein's contract renewal was approved on a unanimous vote and without discussion.
