Paul remembers historic season

Bring up Monterey baseball and longtime beloved Wolf baseball coach Hank Zizzi's name will no doubt come up quickly.

Talk about some of the best players and seasons, and you would have to start with former pitcher Joseph Paul and that magical 1997 season.

"We finished 13-9 that year, but most of our wins were at the end of the season," Paul said. "We finished 5-1 in district. We had really started to gel going into the playoffs."

Paul started out with a hot hand, tossing a no-hitter against Winnsboro in the Vidalia Tournament, striking out 11 Wildcat batters.
