Story Archives: Miss-Lou Relay slated June 17 in Natchez

Miss-Lou Relay slated June 17 in Natchez

The Miss-Lou Relay for Life will be held in Natchez on the bluffs near Rosalie on June 17.

The relay was originally scheduled for the Vidalia Riverfront on May 6, but record high Mississippi River water forced the postponement.

Officials postponed the event to June 17, but because the river will still be high, a site in Natchez was selected.

The event had been held on the Vidalia Riverfront since 2000. It had previously been held in Natchez.

"Because the Mississippi River's rise was unpredictable and out of our control, we had originally decided to reschedule for the June 17 date," said Kathy Prospere, of the Miss-Lou Relay for Life committee. "Now the river's slow fall will not allow us to have Relay on this site due to seepage water and impending mud. However, we are very excited to announce that we have worked diligently with City of Natchez officials, and we are pleased to announce our site this year will be on the Natchez Bluff, still remaining on our June 17 date.
