Davis hired as new assistant DA

District Attorney Brad Burget has announced the hiring of Myisha Davis as an assistant DA.

"We're so fortunate to have someone with Myisha's experience coming on board," Burget said. "She hit the ground running and was in court last week handling cases."

Burget said that Davis will be paid from a state and federal grant designed to help improve his office's handling and prosecution of violence against women cases.

"I know she will be excellent in that area," Burget said of the violence against women cases. "That is an area were the resources have lagged in the past, but now we can improve our handling of those cases."

Davis, who resides in Ferriday, is a 2009 graduate of Southern University Law Center. Since November of 2009, Davis worked as a defense attorney for the Indigent Defender Board in Concordia and Catahoula parishes.
