Bingham new chamber president

Mike Smith resigned as president of the Concordia Parish Chamber of Commerce after his wife, Desiree, accepted the job as station manager of a radio station in Brookhaven, Miss.

"We're excited about the move," Smith said. "But I hated to put the chamber in that position."

Judith Bingham, the vice-president of the chamber, will now serve as president.

Vernon Stevens will serve as vice-president

"Ever since the Ferriday and Vidalia chambers joined together I have been for helping the businesses," Bingham said. "Helping the businesses is what we are all about, which is what was started under Mike. We've had a safety course for the businesses on what to do in case of robbery or disasters, and have joined the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office with that project."

The Concordia Parish Chamber of Commerce 2011 Board of Directors consists of Bingham and Stevens, Georganna Berry as secretary and Scott Christian as treasurer.

Board members are Ryan Paul, Sarah Smith, Rena Pitts, Tance Hughes, Lawrence Chauvin, Jimmy Boyd, Lena Bateman, Sam Jones,
