Recovery process for flooded homes, camp to begin soon A meeting will be held later this month to inform property owners on the river side of the Mississippi mainline levee of the process they must follow for cleaning and rebuilding their flooded homes and camps.
Concordia Parish Police Jury President Melvin Ferrington said Tuesday that representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) will be in attendance to provide details of the recovery procedure and to answer questions.
A certified building inspector will determine if camps or homes are safe for the restoration of electricity, Ferrington said.
"We can not issue a permit for reconnection to any home until it is inspected and approved," said Ferrington. He said the Jury's inspector, Larry Walters of IBTS, or any person certified as a building inspector, can perform the inspection.
"We have to follow the process like everybody else," said Ferrington. "Until a property is inspected and approved utilities can not be reconnected."
He said that representatives of Entergy and Concordia Electric will be invited to the meeting. For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
