Hayles leaving ACCS

Adams County Christian School is seeking a new head football coach after Paul Hayles turned in his resignation last week after accepting the job as headmaster at Amite School Center in Liberty, Ms.

"I love ACCS, but I just felt God leading to Amite," Hayles said. "I am very excited about running the school."

Hayles, who graduated from ACCS where he was a standout football player before moving on to play football at Delta State, began his coaching career at Trinity.

Following a short stint at Wilkinson County Christian Academy, Hayles returned to ACCS as head coach in 2004.

Hayles replaced Bobby Marks, who he played under in the 1980s.

Last year, Hayles led ACCS to the playoffs as the Rebels went 8-4, falling to Brookhaven in the first round of the playoffs.

Hayles had a tough opening to last season, losing his mother to cancer at the start of the season and having his quarterback injured in the first game and miss most of the season.

Hayles, who also served as principal at ACCS, said he will assist with football in any way needed.

"I'm looking forward to starting up at Amite," Hayles said. "At the same time it's tough leaving home. It was a unique year last year. It has been a blessing to have been at ACCS."
