Story Archives: Neighborhood watch meeting in Ferriday

Neighborhood watch meeting in Ferriday
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
"If we all don't live together, we will die separately."

Those were the words of Father Louis Sklar during a skull session to plan a neighborhood watch meeting July 20 at 6 p.m. at the Delta Museum Arcade.

Sklar, Rev. Simeon Green, Rev. Eugene Williams, Rev. Everett Schiele, Rev. Ray Varnado and former Ferriday Police Chief Kenneth Hedrick were present at the meeting.

"It's time to move Ferriday back up to what it used to be," Green said. "It's time to rise up."

Varnado, Williams and Schiele talked about being committed and having the citizens of Ferriday committed to the program.

The "kick-off" meeting on July 20 will last one hour and Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office Investigator Bobby Sheppard will review the key points of the program and show everyone how to get involved.

Block captains and coordinators in all neighborhoods are asked to attend.

"It's not about who will be the next mayor or who will be the next aldermen," Green said.

All clergy are asked to attend and promote the program.

For more information, contact Green at 318-757-2118 or Sklar at 758-0424.
