Educators to meet in Natchez next week Concordia Parish educators have been invited to the 3rd annual Partnership in Education meeting, which will take place Monday, Aug. 1, at the Natchez Convention Center.
Debbie Hudson, president of the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce, said the event keeps expanding each year.
Past events have been limited to educators in Natchez; however, this year all educators from the Miss Lou area, an expected 1,000 teachers, are invited to participate.
"We're very excited to be able to learn from each other and promote regionalism," said Dr. Brenda Moore of the Concordia Parish School Board and a member of the planning committee.
Regionalism has been one of the main priorities for this year's Natchez Chamber Education and Regionalism Steering Education committees.
"I think it makes a statement, that educators are all coming together to educate our youth for tomorrow," Hudson said.
Breakfast will be served and will provide the opportunity for teachers to talk about the upcoming school year.
"It's just a positive time," Hudson said.
Local organizations, such as Phi Delta Kappa, will also be present to pass out goodies and information on their organization.
Guest speaker, Connley Skeen, will use his background in education and leadership certification to discuss "The Leader in Me" program, which is modeled after Dr. Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Effective People."
"It was a unanimous decision," Moore said. "We are educators in the classroom, but we are leaders as well."For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
