RMC approved for clinic

Riverland Medical Center Board members learned Tuesday night that the hospital has received approval to operate a rural health clinic.

Christina Hall, Director of Medical Clinics and Diagnostic Services, informed the board at its regular meeting Tuesday night.

"This is what we have been waiting on," said Riverland Medical Center Administrator Lana Stamper. "Now we have to get approval from the State Fire Marshall and we can proceed."

Riverland purchased a building on Serio Blvd. months ago with the intention of making it a clinic.

"This work has been going on for a while," said board chairman Jim Graves.

Hall also talked about the current clinics.

"Your policies are a little behind," Hall said. "We need to keep the numbers up at the clinic. I see room for improvement and have some things I am working on. There are some great people working here and this is a great facility. You just need to get more people to use them."
