Harvest season kicks off ]The corn, milo and soybean harvests have begun in some areas of Concordia with yields mixed according to early results, County Agent Nan Huff said this week.
"The corn harvest started Monday," she said. "I've heard reports in the 60 to 70 bushel per acre range, but I've also had reports of yields up to 120 bushels an acre on better ground."
Milo yields are also varied, ranging from highs of 120 bushels per acre to lows of 45 bushels per acre.
"It's early and it's mixed," she said.
She said early results on soybeans are showing a harvest of 15 to 25 bushels per acre.
"That's not very good, but it looks as if the later maturing beans will do better as well as any crop that is irrigated," Huff said. For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
