Former Gov. Edwards to visit Vidalia Former Gov. Edwin Edwards will attend the Mickey Gilley concert in Vidalia on August 28 and will sign copies of the book on his life written by Leo Honeycutt.
The book signing is slated from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Jim Bowie Room at the convention center in Vidalia. Both Edwards and Honeycutt will take part. They will also attend the 6 p.m. Gilley concert.
Convention center marketing director Sheri Rabb invited Edwards to attend the concert after communicating with him and his wife on Facebook.
"I invited him to attend the concert and he said he would love to come and agreed to sign books," Rabb said. "We then began talking with Leo Honeycutt and his wife and all will be attending."
Gilley is scheduled to perform two concerts -- one at 2 p.m. and another at 6 p.m. He will be joined by his Urban Cowboy Band and Joey Riley.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at the convention center or at the Delta Music Museum in Ferriday.
Edwards, 84, recently completed serving a 10-year sentence for racketeering, but quickly returned to a public life since his release earlier this year. He has remarried and has been traveling the state signing books. For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
