Story Archives: Assessor not seeking re-election

Assessor not seeking re-election
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Tax Assessor Monelle Moseley said this week she will not seek re-election this fall.

"It's been a pleasure to serve the people of Concordia Parish," Moseley said. "I appreciate all the confidence they have shown me by re-electing me over the years. I was able to meet a lot of great people and will cherish my time as assessor for the parish."

Moseley said she was ready to retire. She has worked 50 years in the assessor's office, including 36 years as the elected assessor.

Prior to that, she said she worked 14 years for the previous assessor, W.A. 'Bubber' Beard.

Jerry Clark, a longtime employee in the assessor's office, says he will be a candidate for the post as will Ryan Paul, a 28-year-old parish businessman.

Meanwhile, Clerk of Clyde Ray Webber said he will seek another term as clerk.

"I plan to run for re-election," he said.

Sheriff Randy Maxwell announced a few weeks ago that he will not seek another term as sheriff.
