Qualifying for parish, district and statewide offices throughout Louisiana is scheduled next week -- Tuesday, Sept. 6, through Thursday, Sept. 8.

Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber said the election will be held Oct. 22.

On the Oct. 22 ballot will be races for the District 21 House seat, Districts 32 and 34 Senate seats, sheriff, assessor, clerk of court, coroner, governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general, state treasurer, commissioner of agriculture, commissioner of insurance and the board of elementary and secondary education.

In Ridgecrest, an election will be held to fill the remainder of the terms of the chief of police and one alderman. Dale Cowan, who was elected police chief in 2010, died in February. Alderman Gayle Cowan's post became open after she resigned in June.

Larry Lawrence was appointed by the Ridgecrest Town Council to serve as interim police chief while Cindy Halford was appointed as alderman in the interim.
