Eight candidates -- three for sheriff -- qualified for office in Concordia Parish through 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for the Oct. 22 election.

Qualifying ends at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Police jury elections, which were also to be held on Oct. 22, have been postponed until the spring of 2012 pending redistricting approval by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Qualifying through 9:30 a.m. Wednesday were:

Sheriff: Kenneth Hedrick, Charles "Junior" Tarver and Robert "Rock" Davis.

Clerk of Court: Clyde Ray Webber.

Assessor: Jerry Clark.

State Representative District 21: Andy Anders.

State Senator 32nd District: Neil Riser.

State Senator 34th District: Francis Thompson.

Ridgecrest alderman: Jamie Harrison.

Ridgecrest chief of police: Edwin "Larry" Lawrence.
