Concordia supports incumbents statewide

Concordia voters favored all four statewide incumbents for governor, lieutenant governor, agriculture commissioner and insurance commissioner during Saturday's primary election.

Gov. Bobby Jindal garnered 4,565 votes (71.55%) in Concordia to outdistance nine opponents. Tara Hollis was the governor's closest challenger with 760 votes (11.91%).

Votes for the other candidates were as follows: David Blanchard, 130; Leonard "Lenny" Bollingham, 26; Ron Ceasar, 82; Cary J. Deaton, 349; William Robert "Bob" Lang Jr., 44; Scott Lewis, 60; "Niki Bird" Papazoglakis, 140; and Ivo "Trey" Roberts, 224.

Jindal carried all 21 precincts in the parish and early voting. Statewide, he received 672,950 votes (65.82%). His closest challenger was Hollis with 182,755 (17.87%).

In the lieutenant governor's race, Concordia voters gave incumbent Jay Dardenne 65.14% of the vote with 3,614, while Billy Nungesser received 35%, 1,934 votes. Dardenne received 53.13% votes statewide to win

Tom Schedler led in the Secretary of State's race in Concordia with 2,880 votes (54.80%), while challenger Jim Tucker received 2,375 votes (45.20%). In statewide balloting, Schedler narrowly won with 449,370 (50.48%) to 440,872 (49.52%) for Tucker.

In the race for Commissioner of Agriculture & Forestry, incumbent Mike Strain received 3,683 votes (63.54%) in the parish to easily outdistance two challenges: Jamie LaBranche with 1,771 votes (30.56%) and Belinda "B" Alexandrenko with 342 (5.90%).

Statewide, Strain received 640,631 (66.52%) to win re-election.

In race for Commissioner of Insurance, incumbent Jim Donelon led Concordia with 3,926 votes (67.65%). Challenger Donald C. Hodge garnered 1,877 votes (32.35%).

Donelson received 651,285 votes (67.48%) statewide to win.
