|Anders re-elected to House; Guice loses BESE race|
Rep. Andy Anders was re-elected to District 21 House post on Saturday, while Keith Guice was defeated in his re-election bid for the District Five BESE seat.
Anders carried Concordia with 79.71% percent of the vote over challenger Justin Conner, while Anders won districtwide with 69.42% of the vote.
In the race for the District 5 BESE (Board of Elementary & Secondary Education) seat, Jay Guillot polled 3,361 votes (55.31%) in Concordia to outpoll incumbent Keith Guice with 2,716 (44.69%). Guice carried six precincts, while Guillot carried 15 and early voting.
Districtwide, Guillot recorded 82,270 votes (54.62%), while Guice received 68,364 (45.38%). Guice carried six parishes -- Caldwell, Catahoula, East Carroll, Madison, Tensas and West Carroll. Guillot carried 13, including Claiborne, Concordia, Evangeline, Franklin, Grant, Jackson, LaSalle, Lincoln, Morehouse, Ouachita, Rapides, Richland and Union.
In the House race, Anders carried Concordia, East Carroll, Madison and Tensas with 9,217 votes (69.42%), while Conner led in four precincts in Catahoula with a districtwide count of 4,060 (30.58%).
In Concordia, Anders polled 5,175 votes (79.71%) to 1,316 (20.29%) for Conner. Anders carried 18 precincts and early voting in the parish, while Conner carried three precincts.
