During a special meeting Friday, the Ferriday Town Council unanimously approved voting districts in accordance with the 2010 census.

New census figures show that registered voters in Ferriday include 83.40%, black; 15.41%, white; and 1.19%, other.

Planner Oliver Schulz presented the new plan, which moved 22 people from Johnny Brown's District D to Gail Pryor's District C.

Pryor expressed concern with the last re-districting proposal, leading to Schulz adding a block to her district.

"That's the way it was originally," said Mayor Glen McGlothin.

"District A,C and D are the only ones impacted," Schulz said. "District B and E will not change."
