School Board presents awards

The Concordia Parish School Board honored Monterey School and presented Citizenship Awards during its regular meeting Thursday.

Monterey was presented the 2011 College Readiness Award. School students have shown improvement on the ACT college admissions test for the past five years.

In other action, the Board approved the payment of invoices for October 2011 totaling $3.6 million.

The board also approved second readings of policies on executive sessions, ethics, employment of retired personnel, kindergarten, interscholastic athletics, compulsory school attendance ages and equal education opportunities.

Additionally, the board set the payment dates for supplement checks.
