Story Archives: Ferriday meeting canceled

Ferriday meeting canceled
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Ferriday Town Meeting Tuesday night was canceled due to the absence of Mayor Glen McGlothin and Mayor Pro Tempore Johnnie Brown.

McGlothin said he was ill and Brown said he had a doctor's appointment out of town.

Council members Gail Pryor, Gloria Lloyd and Somer Lance dismissed at 6:05 p.m.

Town Clerk Cotrina Johnson told the alderman that McGlothin had called in sick before the meeting.

McGlothin said Wednesday morning he is suffering from bronchitis.

"I get this stuff about twice a year," McGlothin said in between coughs. "I've been doing this all my life. And this weather doesn't help."

McGlothin said the meeting will be rescheduled for next week.

Brown said he told board members last week he would miss the meeting because of a quarterly check-up out of town at a veteran's hospital.

"I received my appointment in the mail last week and told them," Brown said. "They (VA) do not like it when you miss your appointment. They have made so many cuts that it's tough to re-schedule."
