Energy upgrade at courthouse
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Work is underway to install air handlers at the courthouse in Vidalia as part of a program to improve the energy efficiency of the air conditioning and heating system.

Jury President Melvin Ferrington said funding for the work is coming through a $120,000 grant through the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources. The courthouse work will total about $109,000, he said, while the remainder of the funds was used for energy improvements at the maintenance barn.

The funding is coming through the Louisiana Entergy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.

Ferrington said the air handlers being installed at the courthouse will be used to condition and circulate air as part of the heating, ventilating and air conditioning system. He said work will also include revamping the duct work system on the top floor of the courthouse.

ACA Corporation of Alexandria is the contractor for the project.
