Clayton drainage work underway
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Drainage work is underway in Clayton and will begin soon in Sicily Island as part of a program to improve local government infrastructure statewide.

In 2010, Clayton was awarded $432,088 for drainage improvements, while Sicily Island received $641,920.

Jonesville and Wisner were grant recipients for generators. Jonesville received $316,180 and Wisner was awarded $249,670.

Contractor for the Clayton work now underway is Rigmasters of Monterey. Work includes ditching and pump station rehab.

Cecil Gassiott of Woodworth is contractor for the Sicily Island project, which will include ditching and culvert replacement. That work is expected to begin in late February.

Keith Capdepon of Bryant Hammett & Associates is project engineer.

"These projects were necessary to the drainage infrastructure of the towns when they were awarded, but the recent heavy rains in the area have shown how important this work is to these communities," Capdepon said.
