After failing to meet in January because of lack of a quorum, it was back to business for the Ferriday Board of Aldermen Tuesday in Ferriday.

Alderman Elijah "Stepper" Banks continued to question why a payment had not been made to the estate of former Ferriday Mayor Sammy Davis Jr.

The board previously voted to pay $129,000 in legal services for Davis Jr., who died in 2006.

Last year the board agreed to pay the fees in four equal payments of $32,250 annually over a four-year period commencing on August 1, 2011.

But McGlothin said the town has used all of its money on the water plant and on repairs around the town.
