Richard gets win No. 200
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Eric Richard picked up career win No. 200 as the Monterey Wolves defeated Evans 71-65.

"No games are easy," Richard said. "Our kids played very well. Evans shot the ball pretty good."

Hayden Cassell led the Wolves with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Monterey's girls defeated Evans 57-54.

The Lady Wolves trailed 13-12 after one period, but outscored the Lady Eagles 20-15 in the second quarter for a 32-28 halftime advantage.

The contest was tied with a minute remaining.

"It was a good game for us because we had to play hard for four quarters," said Monterey coach Cary Shively. "Both teams shot the ball well."

Ellen Bairnsfather led the Lady Wolves with 23 points. Reagan Tiffee added 18.

Both Monterey teams will find out Friday who their first round opponent will be. The Lady Wolves will be on the road for their first-round contest, while Monterey's boys are expected to play at a high seed.
