McGlothin discusses Ferriday events
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Ferriday Mayor Glen McGlothin was scheduled to talk about downtown projects at the Ferriday Rotary Club Thursday, but it turned into more of a farewell address.

McGlothin, who also served as mayor from 1988-1996 and 2000-2004, had told the Rotary Club last September he would not seek re-election because of controversy and squabbling among board members and others.

"I don't know what's going to happen, but I love Ferriday more than anything and will always be available to help," McGlothin said. "I am not giving up on Ferriday. I used to like controversy and arguing, but I don't have the fight in me anymore. Besides, it doesn't help trying to move forward.

"I don't hold any animosity toward anybody and I want to be friends with everybody. Some people want to be mayor just for the name. Believe me, it's hard work. Supposedly, I had $2 million when I took office this term. I haven't found that yet. Whoever gets elected, I want everyone to help them."
