The Concordia Parish Police Jury will host a meeting with federal officials Monday night to discuss the certification of levees -- particularly backwater levees -- in the parish.

The Jury is seeking clarification on its responsibility involving the accreditation of levees that protect the parish.

Police Jury President Melvin Ferrington said discussion on the matter will be held during the Jury's regular meeting at 6 p.m. Monday. He said representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), the Fifth District Levee Board and GOHSEP (Governor's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness) have been invited.
