Story Archives: BESE to interview charter school coordinator, director

BESE to interview charter school coordinator, director
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Delta Charter School's proposed Curriculum Coordinator is being interviewed by the Board of Elementary & Secondary Education (BESE) today (Wednesday), while the charter's school proposed director will be interviewed Tuesday.

BESE agreed last month to allow the Delta Charter Group to move forward with its plan to open a charter school in Ferriday.

The group's president, Michael Burley, said BESE's approval of the school's charter required that a director/principal be identified by Feb. 15.

But that deadline was pushed back by the BESE board due to scheduling, he said.

The board had both positions in place by Feb. 10. If both are approved, the next move would be to meet with the U.S. Department of Justice's on desegregation requirements.
