Story Archives: Jerry Lee Lewis treated at Ferriday hospital

Jerry Lee Lewis treated at Ferriday hospital
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Ferriday native Jerry Lee Lewis spent a few days in Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday last week for pneumonia.

Lewis' sister, Frankie Jean Terrell, was in the Riverland Critical Care waiting room Friday and said her brother was improving.

Lewis was released over the weekend.

No one from Riverland Medical Center would comment on Lewis's condition or if he was a patient at the hospital.

Lewis, who will be 77 in September, had hits in the late 1950s with songs such as "Great Balls of Fire", "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On", "Breathless" and "High School Confidential". Lewis is one of the last surviving pioneers of '50s rock 'n' roll music and the last surviving member of Sun Records' Million Dollar Quartet and the Class of '55 album, which altogether included Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley, as well as Lewis himself.
