Vidalia baseball hosts tourney

Vidalia High's baseball team hosts its annual tournament Friday and Saturday.

Tournament action begins Friday as Vidalia faces West Feliciana at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Vidalia takes on Delhi at 11 a.m., Jonesboro-Hodge battles West Feliciana at 1 p.m., West Feliciana and Delhi tangle at 3:15 p.m. and Vidalia takes on Jonesboro-Hodge at 5:15 p.m.

Admission is $6 each day.

Vidalia High lost another heartbreaker last week as the Vikings fell to Caldwell 5-4 in the first game of the Franklin Parish Tournament Thursday.

Nate Bozeman struck out eight batters over six innings.

The Vikings had two baserunning errors and a fielding error that allowed the Spartans to pull out the win in the seventh inning.

Corey Williams and Josh Foucher had two hits each.

Vidalia trailed West Feliciana 6-4 in the top of the fourth with the Vikings batting with two on base when rain stopped the contest.

The VIkings fell to host Franklin Parish 9-8.

"It was another case of leading in the seventh inning, but the error bug got us," Davis said.

The Vikings fell to Delhi Charter 9-0 before blanking Bolton 13-0 in its final game of the tournament.

Vidalia hosts Jena Tuesday in its District 3-3A opener.
