School tax up for renewal in April Parish voters will be asked to renew for 10 years a 25-mill School Board property tax during the April 21 election.
The tax generated $2.9 million in 2011 and is used for educational support, according to School Board Business Manager Tom O'Neal.
He said the millage is "crucial to our general fund. This is our only fund not designated for a specific purpose."
O'Neal said the millage is used to pay custodians, student transportation, material and supplies, textbooks, insurance, building improvements on a partial basis, debt service, supplemental teacher pay and other items. For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
