A committee was appointed Monday night to develop a plan to provide security for the Concordia Parish courtroom, and the interior and exterior of the courthouse in Vidalia.

That action came during the Police Jury's regular meeting.

Named to the Courthouse Security Committee by Jury President Melvin Ferrington were Judge Leo Boothe, Judge Kathy Johnson, Sheriff Randy Maxwell, Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber, District Attorney Brad Burget, Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Director Morris White and Ferrington.

Ferrington said a security system will likely cost more than $100,000.
