Hospital administrator resigning

Riverland Medical Center's Board of Directors has begun the search for a new administrator following the announcement that Lana Stamper is resigning.

Named Riverland's administrator in October 2010, Stamper will be stepping down effective June 8.

Although she described her duties at the hospital as both challenging and rewarding, Stamper said Friday she had decided she wanted to spend more time with her family.

"This was a difficult decision," Stamper said. "I am going to miss it."

She said since she and her husband, David, married in 2010, that he has taken a new job and spends a great deal of time working abroad.

"I just decided to take some time off and be with him," she said.

Riverland Board Chairman Jim Graves said the board is already advertising for a new administrator.
