$195,000 sought for economic development Parish governing bodies and businesses will soon be asked to contribute $195,000 over a three-year period for economic development.
The Concordia Economic & Industrial Development District (CEIDD) and the Miss-Lou Steering Committee are requesting the funding.
The steering committee, which promotes the region, is seeking $90,000 total -- $30,000 annually -- from the Concordia Parish Police Jury, the Adams County Board of Supervisors and Natchez Now, according to Heather Malone, CEIDD's executive director.
Additionally, Malone said CEIDD is seeking $150,000 over a three-year period from the Police Jury, the four municipalities and local businesses to exclusively promote Concordia Parish.
Concerning the steering committee request, Malone said the Police Jury is being asked to contribute $15,000 annually for three years for the regional marketing campaign.
Chandler Russ, executive director of Natchez, Inc., requested $10,000 from the Adams County Board of Supervisors on Monday night. The board asked for more time to consider the proposal following budget review.
A total of $5,000 annually for three years is also being sought from Natchez Now, which helps fund Natchez, Inc. through private business contributions.
Malone said she will meet with the Police Jury on April 23 to discuss the local funding requests. For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
